So true... The only part I may disagree with is the suggestion that Váhelyi should resign. He should be fired, either by President von der Leyen to bring some discipline to the Commission or by Péter Magyar as part of his efforts to restore Hungary's dignity

Twenty-three experts and academics wrote to the Commission in February to describe the institutional necrosis that spreads from the presence of an abusive troll in a position of responsibility within the European Commission. See here:

It is impossible for a member state to fire a European appointed Commissioner and VarHar won't go willingly. There are only three ways to remove him - for wrongdoing, via the ECJ but that will take years. Via a supermajority vote in the EP, as in the case of Edith Cresson in the Santer Commission, but that would require the entire Commission being dismissed or by the President of the Commission, von der Leyen demanding his resignation (but that would require a Commission president with the courage to take on a bully).
